Con una apariencia dócil, atento a lo que pueda pasar a su alrededor, con su mirada fija hacia uno de los horizontes del mar y un porte altivo y majestuoso, un venado destaca en medio del Paseo Olas Altas.
El Venadito, el monumento mazatleco más conocido, vuelve a su sitio para nuevamente ser admirado por locales y visitantes, pues es un símbolo de la Perla del Pacífico al dar sentido a la etimología del nombre de la ciudad, Mazatl, que en nahuatl significa Tierra de Venados.
Víctima meses atrás de un acto vandálico, esta hermosa obra tuvo que regresar al taller de su creador, el escultor Pedro Jiménez, quien ha hecho otros trabajos para el puerto como La Sirena, La Continuidad de la Vida y los monumentos a Lola Beltrán y al Agua, así como la alegoría con niños y un delfín, ubicado a la entrada del Acuario Mazatlán.
El artista fue quien lo restauró e hizo posible que la pieza regresara intacta a su sitio original, volviendo a ser uno de los más fuertes atractivos del puerto. No pierda la oportunidad de admirarlo en todos sus ángulos en su próximo recorrido por el Paseo Olas Altas.

The Deer Monument is back on Olas Altas again

A deer stands in the middle of Paseo Olas Altas. He has a docile appearance and gazes out to sea with a majestic bearing, attentive to what is going on around him. The Deer Monument, the most well known Mazatlecan monument, returns to his place to once again be admired by locals and visitors. He is a symbol of the Pearl of the Pacific and represents the etymology of the name of city since “Mazatl” in the indigenous Nahuatl means “land of the deer”.
This beautiful piece was the victim of vandalism several months ago and had to return to the workshop of its creator, the sculptor Pedro Jimenez, who has done other sculptures for the city such as The Mermaid, the Continuity of Life and the monuments to Lola Beltran and Water. He also did the children’s allegory and a dolphin located in the entrance to the Mazatlan Aquarium.
The artist restored the deer and made it possible to return to its original site intact and it is once again one of the main attractions of the port. Don’t miss the opportunity to admire the deer from all angles the next time you are on Olas Altas.
