En lo alto del Cerro del Vigía, en la Pérgola Ángela Peralta, se encuentra uno de los tres cañones de fabricación inglesa con los que se defendía a Mazatlán de las invasiones extranjeras, desde el Fuerte 31 de Marzo.
Esta unidad en especial conmemora la Batalla de Mazatlán, del 26 de marzo de 1864, cuando desde el puesto de defensa del fuerte las tropas liberales mexicanas respondieran al ataque de la fragata La Cordeliere, orgullo de los invasores franceses, causándole daños importantes.
Convertido hoy en uno de los monumentos más conocidos del puerto, el cañón es el centro de atención de la pérgola en mención, punto desde el cual se puede disfrutar de las vistas más bonitas del puerto, tanto desde el mirador como del restaurante que ahí se encuentra.

The cannon that defended Mazatlan

Atop the Cerro del Vigia (Vigia Hill) sits one of the three English cannons that was used at fort 31 de Marzo to defend Mazatlan against foreign invasion. It is a special reminder of the Battle of Mazatlan on March 26th, 1864 when the liberal Mexican troops of the fort responded to an attack by the pride of the French fleet, the frigate Cordeliere, and caused a lot of damage.
The cannon has become one of the most known monuments of the port and is the center of attention of the Angela Peralta Pergola which is on top of the hill. The place also has wonderful views of Mazatlan from both the lookout and the restaurant which is up there.
